Past Simple + Past Continuous | Past Simple + Past Perfectวิธีการใช้ Past Simple, Past Continuous และ Past Perfect พูดถึงเหตุการณ์สองเหตุการณ์ในอดีต ตามปกติแล้ว เมื่อเราจะเล่าเหตุการณ์ในอดีตเพื่อบอกลำดับเหตุการณ์สองเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นก่อนและหลัง เราสามารถเล่าได้สองสองสถานะการณ์ คือ
ซึ่งมีวิธีใช้ดังต่อไปนี้ 1. Past Continuos Tense + Past Simple เหตุการณ์หนึ่งกำลังเกิดขึ้น แล้วเกิดเหตุการณ์อีกเหตุการณ์ที่สองสอดแทรกเข้ามา (interupted) ในกรณีนี้เราใช้ past continuous tense กับเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นและ past simple tense กับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นในระหว่างนั้น Sentence Structure โครงสร้าง ประโยค S + was/were + V1 + ing when S + V2 When S + V2, S + was/were + V1 + ing หรือ While S + was/were + V1 + ing, S + V2 S + V2 while S + was/were + V1 + ing ตัวอย่าง Jenny was taking a shower when the phone rang. เจนนี้กำลังอาบน้ำอยู่ตอนที่โทรศัพท์ดังขึ้น While Jenny was taking a shower, the phone rang. ขณะที่เจนนี้กำลังอาบน้ำอยู่โทรศัพท์ก็ดังขึ้น At 7.00 pm Thailand local time yesterday, there was an explosion on the airplane while it was taking off. เมื่อวานนี้หนึ่งทุ่มตรง เวลาของประเทศไทย เกิดระเบิดขึ้นบนเครื่องบินขณะที่เครื่องกำลังขึ้น 2. Past Perfect Tense + Past Simple อีกโครงสร้างหนึ่ง เหตุการหนึ่งได้เกิดขึ้นมาแล้วและเกิดขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่อง แล้วเกิดเหตุการณ์อีกเหตุการณ์หนึ่งสอดแทรกเข้ามา (interupted) ในกรณีนี้เราใช้ past perfect tense กับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นก่อนและ past simple tense กับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นทีหลัง Sentence Structure โครงสร้าง ประโยค S + had + V3 when/before/by the time S + V2 When/Before/By the time S + V2, S + had + V3 หรือ After S + had + V3, S + V2 S + V2 after S + had + V3 ตัวอย่าง The movie had already started when I arrived. หนึ่งเริ่มฉายแล้ว ตอนที่ผม ไปถึง Before I arrived at the airport, the airplane had already taken off. ก่อนที่ผมจะไปถึงสนามบิน เครื่องก็ได้ออกไปแล้ว After the airplane had taken off for 10 minutes, there was an explosion on it and I'd arrived at the airport. หลังจากที่เครื่อง บินขึ้นได้ 10 นาที ก็มีการระเบิดเกิดขึ้น(บนเครื่องบิน) และผมก็พึ่งจะไปถึงสนามบิน By the time I arrived at the airport, the airplane had already taken off. ในตอนที่ผมไปถึงสนามบิน เครื่องก็ได้ออกไปแล้ว จุดสังเกตุ after จะใช้กับประโยคที่อยู่ในรูป past perfect when/before/by the time จะใช้กับใช้กับประโยคที่อยู่ในรูป past simple เหตุการณ์ที่สองนี้บางที่เราใช้ past perfect continuous แทน past perfect ได้เป็นการ บอกเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดก่อนนั้นได้เกิดในอดีตต่อเนื่องมาถึงจุดหนึ่งและก็กำลังเกิดขึ้น เป็นการเน้นสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้น มากกว่า past perfect.
