This review is for the ASRock Z390 Pro4 Motherboard. I bought this based on past experience with ASRock Motherboards, and because it was portrayed as a minimalist motherboard with two SSD connections and no built in wi-fi. The Motherboard arrived OK, complete with all hardware. I ordered this with several other items for the computer build, they were all included in one big box with a few packaging "air pillows" to provide protection.
The included Installation Guide documented the motherboard I/O connections, jumpers, connectors and their descriptions very well. The basic installation process for CPU, modules and memory was complete, but that document effectively ended there. No information on setting up RAID and nothing on BIOS setting definitions here.
Exploring the included Resource CD, got me more information on the RAID set up, but that seemed geared to RAID on SATA HD drives. I found a true User Manual on the Resource CD which was more complete than the printed Installation Guide, and which included BIOS setting information (this was on the MFG web site too). I found more ASRock information online for RAID set ups using SSD's that helped, but it was not specific to the Z390 Pro4.
I accomplished a RAID1 set up using two (identical) SSD's mounted on the motherboard. This involved several trial and error sessions, more than one ending with the computer endlessly rebooting itself at the point where one would normally enter the BIOS set up. Other times it would reboot and seem to freeze. Sometimes the BIOS seemed to reconfigure itself without input, for example: set the BIOS settings; exit/save them; reboot and re-enter BIOS set up and find the settings different than saved (self preservation maybe?). All of this was before installing the OS, and which resulted in needing to clear the CMOS to start over. The instructions to do this in the included Installation Guide did not work. I had to disassemble the computer down to the bare motherboard, disconnect all cables, and *then* clear the CMOS using the jumper as shown in the Installation Guide, which did work.
A month later and the computer is working OK, running Windows 10. It is what I wanted, a minimalist set up w/o wireless, or bling, that could be upgraded to wireless capabilities if need be. It was more of a puzzle to configure than I think was necessary, and I thought I had done my homework.

I ordered this from Amazon Warehouse where it indicated the item was used and bonus material was missing.
What I received was a brand new motherboard with all bonus material included in a distressed box.
So consider this an Amazon Warehouse hit.
These ship with BIOS 4.40 (newest is 4.5 as of this review), but the BIOS is new enough to support all 8th and 9th gen CPUs up to the 9900ks and 9100F.
This is a basic board with slightly below average VRMs. I tried a 9900k in it that is known to hold 5.2 no problem in another board, but this board stalled at 4.9 before the VRMs overheated at 1.3v. But that wasn't why I bought it. It is a lower tier board really not meant for major overclocking and higher voltages. I tested a 9900ks I have which runs at 5ghz @ ~1.2v no problem and it handled it just fine.
My build was with a 9100f which this board could handle very easy.
Installation was straight forward. I paired it with a set of Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 XMP memory (2x8GB), and it worked instantly and flawlessly and passed an overnight memtest run no problem.
A few cons:
No RGB header Only one mid and top fan aux connector No cooling on the VRMs chipset heatsink runs right up against the M.2 devices installed in the lower part of the board
Overall, for the price, (~79USD), it does what I need and built out just fine and passed all stress tests (Memtest, CB15, CB20, TimeSpy)

I bought 2 of these. Processors were Intel i7-9700F NOTE: the "F" at the end means the processor has no on-board video and you MUST have a video card - if the board video output doesn't work, check your processor model!!! The first went together great and booted right up from the USB stick. I treated myself to an Intel Optane SSD and can confirm that the ULTRA M.2 on this board is ludicrously fast - loading screens on video games flash for a split second. A cold boot takes a second or two after the BIOS screen. This board is super-fast with Optane in ULTRA M.2.
The second one didn't come up at all. Fans turned on but no beeps or anything. I completely took apart the first machine and put the 2nd board into it, and the first machine didn't work. When I put the 1st board into the 2nd computer, it suddenly sprang to life. Verified: definitely a bad board. Quick replacement from Amazon, saved the stars.
5 stars for a low-cost, full-featured board that supports Optane very well. Subtract one star for the DOA board.
EDIT: Replacement arrived. Dropped it into the chassis, plugged everything in, and it booted right up. 2 of 3 worked great.

Works mostly fine. Had to disable C3 state only on this motherboard with my regular setup that worked fine on the last to be able to use anything above 100Hz polling on my mouse.

I have used four Asrock Pro4 motherboards in the last several years: Z390, Z390M, and two Z370M boards. All of them are working great and they even supported nice overclocks. This Z390 Pro4 comes with two M.2 ports and another M.2 for WiFi which is very good for the price. It has 10-phase VRM which is good enough for decent overclocking. My I7 9700K is running at 5Ghz on all cores completely stable and cool with a 240mm AIO water cooler. Installation was very easy and with 4x8GB DDR4 RAM, GTX 1080Ti, 970 EVO 1TB, and 960 EVO 250G, Intel AC 9260 WiFi/bluetooth. Windows 10 and Ubuntu 20.04 both work without any problems together with overclocking. I don't expect anything better.

Im Zusammenspiel mit meinen i9-9900K, hat es das Mainboard leider nicht geschafft die Offcore-Spannung automatisch zu regeln, sodass das der PC vernünftig läuft. Dementsprechend kam es dauerhaft bei hoher Leistung zu Bluescreens mit dem Fehler: "Whea_uncorractable_error". Ich hab einiges an Zeit gebraucht um den Fehler zu finden. Davon abgesehen leistet das Mainboard gute Dienste, das einzige was man beklagen könnte ist das die M2 Steckplätze anders hätten angeordnet werden können. Je nachdem wie groß der CPU-kühler oder die Grafikkarte sind muss man die Teile erst ausbauen um vernünftig an die M2 Steckplätze drankommen zu können.

Thumbs up, this is my 2nd time purchase asrock MB. Previous one has dead ram slots . No problem with those 4ram slots this time, tested with my i7 9700F, everything are working smoothly and have windows 11 installed. Currently no problem pops so far so good!

Einfaches, unproblematisches Mainboard, welches stabil seinen Dienst verrichtet. Eines ist mir aufgefallen, getestet habe ich es mit einem i5 8600K, mit ihm war auf der Start UEFI Seite ein sogenannter EZ OC Modus zu sehen (so eine Rakete) Dann hab ich es eingebaut und betreibe es mit einem i5 9600KF.. nach dem 3. Einschalten war dieser Easyübertaktungsmodus verschwunden, und es ist mir bislang nicht wieder gelungen in "hervor" zu holen. Obwohl ich in den Optionen explizit angebe, EZ.. auf Startseite. Übertaktet habe ich eh manuell, nicht das ich den Modus brauchen würde, aber seltsam ist das schon.

Win10 一時間ごとに動画がフリーズしてウィドウズがブラックアウトしてしまいました。 構成は以下 CPU; i5 9400F GB; Asus GEFORCE GT710 SSD; GREEN HOUSE 480G 電源; KRPW 550W メモリ; Crucial DDR4-2666 8Gx2
信頼性履歴の表示で見たところ、 LIVE Kernel Event コード;117
GBの問題だと思い他のPCのMSI GT710と交換しDriverを出来る限りアップデート、WIN10のみ入れ替えましたが改善されず。いろいろ調べたところ 原因は、なんと、Intel（R) Core i 5 9400F（Skylakeシリーズ全体とのこと）のバクかも。しかし、このバグは、ネット上では、CPUに大きな負荷がかかる「メルセンヌ素数を計算するプログラムなどを実行するベンチマークソフト「Prime95」を使った場合にシステムがフリーズする危険性がある」とされており、CPUの負荷が軽い動画再生などでは、関係ないがごとくの扱いでした。
CPUの選択で（Skylakeシリーズ）I5 9400F(UO)はコスパが良いので選択しましたがこれが一番怪しいです。 I5 9400でも(RO)(PO)なら良いようです。
対処方法としてはMBのBIOSをP4.3からP4.4へアップデート SSDを交換してWIN10をクリーンインストール
やっと改善されました。
ただしASrockのユーティリティAPP SHOPにてドライバーのアップデートを見ると下記の二つのアップデートが表示されますがこれも怪しいので触らないようにします。
〇 インテル® INF Driver 注:インテル・チップセット・デバイス・ソフトウェアは、AGP または USB 用のドライバーをインストールしません。「AGP driver」、「AGP GART」、「USB ドライバー」の問題を修正するようにデバイスメーカーが推奨している場合は、このユーティリティをダウンロードしないでください。問題は解決しません。 〇インテル® ラピッド・ストレージ・テクノロジー Driver インテル® ラピッド・ストレージ・テクノロジーにより、パフォーマンス、応答性、拡張性が大幅に向上します。使用している シリアル ATA (SATA) ドライブまたは PCIe* ドライブが 1 つでも複数でも、パフォーマンスの向上と消費電力の低下というメリットを享受できます。さらに、ハードディスク・ドライブで障害が発生した場合のデータ消失に対する保護が追加されることで、安心感も高まります。
動画はPowerDVD18でもVLC media player、ユーチューブでも症状は同じでした。 それ以外なら動画の編集、HDDへの移動も早く申し分なし。Asrocで調べるとBIOS P1.6以上対応とありますが次のアップデートでこういった問題の対応改善を期待します。

Ich werde zukünftig meine Bestellungen mehrfach überprüfen. Leider häufen sich jetzt auch bei Bestellung und Versand die Fehler.
Board bestellt. Lieferung erfolgt. Ausgepackt: Falscher Formfaktor. Rückgabe!!
Fehlerhafte Bestellung nochmals geprüft und festgestellt, dass die Beschreibung sich auf das Z390 Pro 4 bezieht, jedoch die Bilder des Z390M genutzt wurden. In Kombination mit dem günstigeren Preis also eine Irreführung.
